The iASiS project participated at the European Semantic Web Conference
The iASiS project participated at its first dissemination event at the European Semantic Web Conference (ESWC), which took place in Portoroz, Slovenia between 28 May and 1 June 2017.
The project was represented by Grigorios Tzortzis, from coordinating partner NCSR Demokritos, who delivered an introductory presentation about iASiS on 1 June and also participated at the poster session with the iASiS ESWC 2017 poster.
The iASiS project travelled to Canada
iASiS Project Coordinator Dr. George Paliouras travelled to Canada in August 2017 to present iASiS in a variety of meetings.
The first stop for Dr. Paliouras was at the Manitoba Center for Health Policy, on Wednesday 2 August 2017 where he gave a presentation entitled “iASiS: Big Data to Support Precision Medicine and Public Health Policy”. Additionally, he met with coordinators of the BEST DATA project (Beyond Structured Administrative Data).
Next stop on the Canada tour was the University of Alberta, where iASiS was presented at the Department of Medical Genetics on Thursday, 3 August.
iASiS was presented at the 3rd Big Data Europe Workshop
The 3rd Big Data Europe Workshop on Big Data for Climate Action, Environment, Resource Efficiency and Raw Materials took place on 6 November 2017 in Brussels, Belgium. Work package 5 leader Prof Dr Maria-Esther Vidal gave a presentation titled “Big Data Analytics in the Health Domain” during an afternoon session on Big Data Applications.
iASiS was presented during the Greek Hospitals MeetUp in Greece
Dr. Anastasia Krithara, NCSR Demokritos, represented the partnership at the meet up of Greek Hospitals and Digital Health on 20 September 2017 in Athens, Greece.
The medical community heard about the challenges and opportunities that Big data provides in the field of precision medicine.
