Newsletter #1 - In the Spotlight
In this first newsletter, we wanted to share with you an overview of the use cases for the two diseases we are focusing on, Alzheimer’s disease and lung cancer. The iASiS platform is being built based on different clinical and policy making scenarios for these use cases.

Work package 7 – Dementia use cases
Objectives
- Definition of user requirements for the dementia use case
- Planning of the dementia pilot
- Data source selection
- Definition of the user evaluation methodology
Alzheimer’s disease
In this use case the iASiS partners are working to create a platform that will assist clinicians with the optimal choice of drug to offer patients, and increase the accuracy of diagnosis. Public health policy scenarios are also being developed based on the clinical scenarios, as well as other key areas such as early diagnosis and risk reduction.

Work package 8 – Lung cancer use cases
Objectives
- Definition of user requirements for the lung cancer use case
- Planning of the cancer pilot
- Data source selection
- Definition of the user evaluation methodology
Lung cancer scenario
In this use case, iASiS researchers are trying to identify specific patterns in long surviving lung cancer patients, and evaluate the effectiveness of tyrosin-kinase inhibitors in mutated lung cancer patients. A policy making scenario is being developed to address cancer risk associated with environmental exposures, methods for dissemination of information, technology, and cancer registries.
